Is A Bow And Arrow Illegal In NSW - The Loose Cannon By Simon Munslow | 5 May 2020

I have written previously about Weapons Prohibition Act 1996, and unfair results that can arise from its all-encompassing wording, which makes even the submarine pressure hull in the park at Holbrook, and WW1 trench art, prohibited weapons. (Schedule 1, 1A (1).
The prohibition of some of the items listed is understandable, however the definition of flick knife ‘a knife that has a blade which opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force or by pressure applied to a button’ could be applied to many innocently owned folding knives where the screw between the bolster and blade has worked loose (Schedule 1 1(1).
A flame thrower is defined as ‘Any device that is of military design or any other device that is capable of projecting ignited incendiary fuel’- (Schedule 1, 1A (3).  So, a pressure can could be considered a flame thrower- so don’t try that James Bond trick any time soon.
Perhaps the most worrying is Sch 1 4(9) which prohibits:
‘Any device (regardless of composition) that is designed to propel or launch a bomb, grenade, rocket or missile by any means other than by means of an explosive, including a device known as a PVC cannon’.
Missile is not defined in the Act, but if one turns to the most commonly used interpretive aid in Australian Courts, the Macquarie Dictionary, it lists arrows as an example of a missile.
So, whilst clearly intended to target the PVC cannon- a tube used to fire frozen apples and oranges by using aerosol gas as a fuel, and a barbecue igniter as a trigger, (and which physics teachers love to demonstrate) captures the common bow and arrow.
I realise a lot of you are thinking at the moment, your daft, Game laws permit hunting with bows!
Yes, they do, but that does not mean that the bow is lawful!
You have to remember how much of an Ass the law can be!
Is this a mistake?  I do not think so.  This legislation has been written very broadly as a result of two things:
Policy Officers have not understood all of the permutations of weapon that could be involved, let alone quite possibly what they were seeking to prohibit, and there has been a desire to anticipate other types of devices, so the law has been written broadly.
The breadth of approach dovetails with another problem. Whether an offence has been committed or not often comes down to the interpretation of a Police Officer, and in some instances, the officer’s imagination, desire to protect the community from that imagination, plus the desire for a result.
Generally, Police do not go looking for this sort of prosecution, it would typically be by what a Police Officer considered a public order matter where someone had lodged a complaint, or a Policeman has wasted time attending your home in respect to an allegation of violence, or you have upset the officer, or for some other reason the officer is looking for a ‘result’.
Sadly, I see enough matters involving what I would class as petty criminal offences that to me should fall below a discretionary threshold decision of whether or not to be prosecute to cause me concern.
Should you go running off and lodge an application for a Prohibited Weapons Permit for a bow and arrow?
Here I can only speak for myself- and this is not advice- If I was just a bow hunter, I probably would not bother, but as a licenced firearms owner, I am particularly cautious about avoiding ANY breach of the law, including prohibited weapons legislation, because my firearms licence means so much to me, and a breach of the law for me, would have certain legal implications as a legal practitioner.
I am also conscious of an ‘attitude’ that some Police (thankfully not all) hold toward firearms owners and the impact of a culture of booking people in order to get a ‘result’, rather than the kind of community Policing / caution methodology used in other states that regards prosecution as a last resort.
If the Registry is concerned about a flood of Permit requests, from bow hunters, I make the following suggestion.
When I worked as a Regulatory Lawyer for the Commonwealth, we developed the concept of a Class licence, as a means of licensing everyone with certain types of equipment (ie CB radio) that we did not want to be bothered regulating. It worked well.
The logical choice here would be for the Commissioner to issue a Class Permit, that effectively grants a permit a device to certain types of prohibited weapon, which are held with a genuine reason for possession.
Another possibility would be a prosecution policy that removes low threshold offences from the realm of prosecution unless there is a significant aggravating factor.  The Director of Public Prosecutions in NSW has a clear policy in this regard, but I have been unable to find such a policy for Police.
The solution is quite easy- it just calls on some good will and common sense on behalf of regulators and a willingness to educate themselves about what they seek to regulate.
The outcome of such an approach would be that the public know where they stand, and at present, we do not.

Self Defence Laws In Australia. Dunstan: NSW Police Minister to brief on self-defence gun laws

Let us be clear here, using a firearm to defend yourself & your family in an armed, violent home invasion is not the only issue here!
Possessing any object specifically for the purpose of self-defence, lethal or non-lethal, is a criminal offence in Australia!!! There are many women, raped and/or murdered, who Possessing any object specifically for the purpose of self-defence, lethal or non-lethal,  would have been liable to prosecution had they been carrying anything that might have saved them.

The End Is Nigh!

The End Is Nigh!
How many times have we seen these words on street sandwich boards? Thousands of times worldwide, but then it was mostly of a religious nature, the so called Christian God about to strike humanity with his wrath! But global warming climate change is not about some mythical invisible God striking us all down, global warming climate change is man made, & it will be a real End Of The World event.
Why is the government doing nothing to stabilize climate change at its present level? Mostly because they are corrupt to the core & greedy. To stabilize global warming climate change at its present level all coal mines need to be closed, we need to stop burning coal & exporting coal to other countries. We need to stop destroying our forest areas for timber production, we need to stop logging. We need to stop burning oil, we need to reduce the amount of traffic on our roads.
Now this is a big ask, the big corporations will not stop production on their own accord, & the government will not force them to stop production. It all comes down to money , greed & lifestyle. The majority of people in Australia could rise up now & sack the government & take control, they could introduce a new non corrupt governing system, but they won’t. Why won’t they? Because of money & lifestyle. Miners & loggers do not want to lose their jobs, & the wealthy do not want to change their lifestyles. Well here is some news for you, as global warming climate change increases, there is likely to be massive blackouts, because as the temperature rises, air conditioners will be turned up & the grid will not be able to handle it. In the areas where it gets colder,  then electric heating will be turned up & this too will cause blackouts. No electricity = no cooking, no water, not toilets, no lighting, no heating, no cooling, the end of your lifestyle.
As for those people not wanting to lose their jobs, well there will not be any jobs on a dead planet!!! People are placing a bigger priority on making money, keeping their jobs & maintaining their present lifestyle over & above survival itself! First as global warming climate change increases, we will experience TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it). This will force a change in wealthy lifestyles because without electricity cities will close down & be dangerous places to live in. Crime rates will soar; looting, home invasions, violence & killings. Some areas will get much hotter; other places will get much colder. Extremes in weather conditions will increase; more droughts & more floods. There will be crop failures & food & water shortages. With no electricity supermarkets & fuel stations will close. No fuel=no transport. How many work places do you think will remain open with no electricity?
This could last for years, the police can’t help or protect people now, so they certainly won’t be able to help people when the shtf! The military will probably step in & martial law will be introduced, but this will only inconvenience law abiding citizens, just as our misplaced laws do now, it will not stop crime. Eventually living above ground will not be possible; many people are going to die. In the end it will mean the extinction of all life on earth, & all this because our government is corrupt & the majority of people fail to rise up & take control.

We can’t really prepare for this one, we can arm ourselves so that we can protect our families, and we can store food so we will not starve immediately. We can store water so that we do not die of thirst immediately, but many will die along the way. Every day I see a new petition on animal rights, protecting the Great Barrier Reef, stop live export, and make cannabis legally available to cancer sufferers. But where are the petitions to save the world??? Nothing else we want or need is important anymore in the face of total extinction of all life on our planet. We may survive global warming climate change, our children & our grandchildren MAY survive, but our great grandchildren MAY not survive. Think about that. Is your job or your lifestyle that important to you that you are prepared to cause the end of all life on earth?

AVO SUBJECTS FACE LIFE BAN ON GETTING GUN LICENCE!!! Open to abuse!!!

AVO SUBJECTS FACE LIFE BAN ON GETTING GUN LICENCE
ANYONE who has been the subject of an apprehended violence order would be banned from obtaining a gun licence under options being discussed by top police and the NSW government amid an estranged father murdering his two teenage kids.
The only problem with this is that some people request an AVO against other people just for spite & are in fact in no danger from a violent attack. So this would mean that if anyone wanted someone banned from getting a gun licence, all they have to do is action an AVO against that person. Right now, anyone issued with an AVO can have their guns confiscated!!! A close friend of mine had a false AVO issued against him from a neighbour who was in fact abusing his own wife!!! My friend was only able to keep his guns because I took them from his home & locked them in my own gun safe in my home.

This situation is simply not good enough, I totally agree that if an AVO is genuinely required because there is a genuine fear of violence being carried out by a person, then that person should not have access to firearms (he or she will have to use some other weapon!). But how are the police going to know what is a genuine request for an AVO & which is not?

In the case of these teenagers being shot by their father, the laws were & are already in place, the reason this man had these guns was because the NSW Firearms Registry & the gun club both FAILED to follow correct procedures!!! THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF US LAW ABIDING LICENCED GUN OWNERS!!!

A point worth making here I think is the fact that these teenagers & their Mother were not able to defend themselves because the Australian government has made it illegal : Possessing any object specifically for the purpose of self-defence, lethal or non-lethal, is a criminal offence in Australia. There are many people hospitalised or murdered, who would have been liable to prosecution had they been carrying anything that might have saved them.

Gun Control & Public Safety.

Gun Control.
Intelligent people have difficulty in understanding Australia’s firearms laws. Such as why do 17th & 18th century pistols require an “H” class restricted licence for ownership & use? This is the same licence requirement for say a 9mm semi-automatic Glock handgun, there is a vast difference between a flintlock pistol & a breach-loading semi-auto pistol! Then there is the self defence issue, if you experience a home invasion & you & your family are at risk of harm or death, then you will just have to die, because it is illegal to use your gun to defend yourself! One would have thought this was a human right, but no, not in Australia it isn’t!

Why is it that the gun is to blame when people, criminals, commit a firearms offence? Just for argument’s sake let’s assume there is a spate of killings where the tool used is a wood golf club. Now if the government suddenly decided to confiscate all wood golf clubs, golfers would be up in arms, “why blame us for what someone else does with a wood golf club” they would say, “it is the killer you should blame, blaming a wood golf club is ridiculous”! And of course they would be right (I wonder how many members of “Gun Control Australia play golf?), blaming an inanimate object would be a downright stupid thing to do, & yet that is exactly what the government has done in regards to guns. The argument we often get thrown at us by people with no understanding is “why do you need a gun? People don’t need guns! Well if shooters & hunters don’t need guns, then golfers don’t need golf clubs! The fact is that we like our guns; we enjoy having our guns, just like golfers enjoy having & using their golf clubs.
In the Port Arthur shootings (there never was a coronial enquiry, all swept under the carpet!), they say the gun used was an assault rifle, an AR15 caliber .308. The Australian government used this shooting as an excuse to confiscate the guns belonging to law abiding citizens. What guns did they confiscate? Well AR15s had been banned a long time ago; in fact the AR15 used in the Port Arthur shootings allegedly belonged to the Tasmanian Police Department!!! The guns they confiscated were semi-automatic .22 bunny rifles, semi-auto & pump action shotguns!!! These guns were favoured by Australian farmers; farmers needed these guns in their work to dispatch sick livestock & to control feral animals. Controlling feral animals is seen as being one of the important duties of all land owners.
Now we used to be able to carry what was known as a snake gun, this was usually a cut down .410 shotgun to handgun size for protection against snakes. These were banned many years ago. Land owners used to be able to carry handguns for protection against wild boars & stroppy bulls as well as being used for feral animal control. You can still work without any impediment from carrying a hand gun on your belt, but you can’t work affectively with a long gun hanging off your shoulder! Now handguns have also been banned! There was no justification for banning & confiscating these guns, other than to say it was in the interest of public safety! Public safety? These people & these guns played no part in the Port Arthur shootings, & these same law abiding licensed gun owners were not & are not criminals! Practically every day vehicle owners are responsible for killing & injuring pedestrians & other road users, & yet no one blames the car, & the government has done nothing to make our roads & paths safer for the public! Gun owners have to pass a written safety exam & a physical test. All vehicle owners have to do is learn the road rules & pass a driver’s test. There is no safety training to obtain a driver’s licence!!!
Where am I going? Where is this taking us? Well no where good I guess, because unless law abiding gun owners back each other; and by this I mean we all support each other (yes even supporting the muzzle-loader community!!!), then we are without a doubt going to end up being disarmed! The very fact that; Possessing any object specifically for the purpose of self-defence, lethal or non-lethal, is a criminal offence in Australia is a sure sign that our government has no regard for “public safety” so using that as an excuse to confiscate our guns is absolute bullshit, & if that is not the reason for confiscating our firearms, then you have to ask yourself “what is the reason?”.

Self Defence Laws In Australia.

You are not legally allowed to use a gun to defend yourself or your family. Whatever you do use, you will have to prove that it was a random choice of normal items you had in the house at the time. You can't for instance have a baseball bat unless you can prove you regularly play baseball. You can't have a table or chair leg by your bed to use in self defence. If the assailant has a gun, the best you can do is try & get your family out of the house, but bare in mind they may be in danger outside too! You can use a chair or a kitchen knife but these have their limitations if there is more than one intruder & they are armed. Basically you have a choice, you can either be a victim, or you can be a criminal!

Possessing any object specifically for the purpose of self-defence, lethal or non-lethal, is a criminal offence (in Australia). There are many women, raped and/or murdered, who would have been liable to prosecution had they been carrying anything that might have saved them.

Do It Yourself homemade pipe shot gun. Gun Control??? Anti Gun Lobby/Government Ignorance.

I am posting this video to show the anti gun lobby just how ignorant they are & how pointless gun control is when targeting law abiding licenced gun owners. This video shows how to make a 12 gauge shotgun with only simple workshop tools & no special skills required. This gun is called a “Pipe Shotgun" & it is simply made from two pieces of pipe, a nut & bolt & a screw on end cap.
Now ask yourself this, how will gun control stop ANYONE from making a gun like this? How does stopping me from using a primitive antique muzzle-loading gun stop any criminal from making this gun? What is to stop any crazed person from making this gun & walking into a school & shooting lots of people? Remember, this is a shotgun. Loaded with buckshot it will kill multiple people with just one shot, & this gun is quickly & easily reloaded!

Typical government gun control FAILURE! Typical crime control FAILURE!!! Tougher sentences required!

Our government is quick to punish law abiding citizens if they use a gun for self defence, & they continue to hassle us with further useless & pointless gun control legislation. They say they want to stop crime & make Australia a safer place, but the proof of their lies is in the sentencing of real criminals.

Why must gun owners be punished for the actions of crooks?

But yet again, no mention of why flintlock muzzle-loading pistols are on a restrictive H class licence?!!! Crooks don't use these at all!!!
Firearms associations have failed Australian gun owners! We don't ask much, we just want a fair go & sensible gun laws that DO NOT punish/penalise law abiding gun owners.

How to join the fight to save your way of life

1) Our local MP is corrupt & there is no point in contacting him 2) you say nothing about the gun owners in Australia being fractured. They all have their preferences & don't give a damn about others shooters/gun owners. So long as we are not backing each other, then we are fighting a lost cause 3) you mention nothing about demanding stronger penalties for gun crimes, we should be shouting this from the roof tops. We are not ALL good blokes, there are criminals amongst us & they need to be rooted out & given heavy sentences, not just a slap on the wrist & put back on the streets. This is what the government wants!!! 4) I gave up on the SSAA a long time ago, they are all for themselves & stuff you if you don't do what you are told. Not a hope in hell of me being a member again, never!

Australian Gun Laws & Anti-Self defence laws leave Citizens At Risk!

Humane Right to Armed Self defence???
The right of self-defense (also called, when it applies to the defense of another, alter ego defense, defense of others, defense of a third person) is the right for people to use reasonable force or defensive force, for the purpose of defending one's own life or the lives of others, including, in certain circumstances, the use of deadly force.[1]
If a defendant uses defensive force because of a threat of deadly or grievous harm by the other person, or a reasonable perception of such harm, the defendant is said to have a "perfect self-defensejustification.[2] If defendant uses defensive force because of such a perception, and the perception is not reasonable, the defendant may have an "imperfect self-defense" as an excuse.[2]

Thwarted by the demise of its global gun ban treaty, the United Nations declares the human right of self-defense null and void

As far as I can tell, no country is listed for restricting the natural, civil and human right to self-defense. So, it appears Human Rights Watch doesn’t care that people are prevented by their governments from protecting themselves.

In legal terms, Australians have a right of self-defence. While some states rely on the common law and others have it enshrined in statute, the right itself is never questioned. Moreover, juries consistently refuse to convict those charged with serious offences whenever self-defence is made out.
What we don’t have is the practical ability to exercise that right. Possessing any object specifically for the purpose of self-defence, lethal or non-lethal, is a criminal offence. There are many women, raped and/or murdered, who would have been liable to prosecution had they been carrying anything that might have saved them.
The massive Police and government anti-terror apparatus failed yet again to protect the public. How many more reminders do the public need that the state is not their god and saviour? This is not a sleight at Police, but as we’ve discussed at length previously they are reactionary only and in terms of firearms, held to a lower standard than Category H licence holders. Even Queensland Police admit this.
It’s time to get serious about empowering the public by letting them have the opportunity to defend themselves, and end this useless and dangerous obsession with denying people the basic means and right to practical non-lethal and licenced lethal forms of self-defence, in the name of ‘muh public safety’.
RESIDENTS have backed calls from the Shooters Union Australia for the government to clarify and strengthen self-defence laws.
SUA vice president David Brown wants the ambiguity around gun laws, which leave licensed firearms owners at risk of prosecution for defending their homes from intruders, clarified.
Mr Brown this week told The Chronicle guns were the "only means of levelling the playing field against an aggressor", and his view has earned support from readers.
Human Rights Act 2004 Australia.
9 Right to life (1) Everyone has the right to life. In particular, no-one may be arbitrarily deprived of life.
11 Protection of the family and children Note Family has a broad meaning (see ICCPR General Comment 19 (39th session, 1990)). (1) The family is the natural and basic group unit of society and is entitled to be protected by society. (2) Every child has the right to the protection needed by the child because of being a child, without distinction or discrimination of any kind.
18 Right to liberty and security of person (1) Everyone has the right to liberty and security of person.
Part 3B Limits on human rights 28 Human rights may be limited (1) Human rights may be subject only to reasonable limits set by laws that can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society. (2) In deciding whether a limit is reasonable, all relevant factors must be considered, including the following: (a) the nature of the right affected; (b) the importance of the purpose of the limitation; (c) the nature and extent of the limitation; (d) the relationship between the limitation and its purpose; (e) any less restrictive means reasonably available to achieve the purpose the limitation seeks to achieve.
There is nothing in this human rights document that actually states that we have a right to defend ourselves or our families. The United Nations says that we have NO right to defend ourselves or our families against harm!

Home Invasion & Attempted Murder. Give us our human rights, give us our guns back.

https://au.news.yahoo.com/vic/a/38055974/gang-of-thieves-attempt-to-run-down-mum-baby-after-stealing-car/
The government claims we do not need guns for self defence. I beg to differ!!!

It is even illegal in Australia for law abiding citizens to purchase or carry pepper spray or tasers. I say forget about the pepper spray & tasers, we want to be legally allowed to purchase & carry firearms for the purpose of self defence & for the defence of our families. This is a human right that we Australian citizens are being denied by our government.

Gun confiscation was never anything to do with the safety of Australian citizens, the fact that there have been no mass shootings since the Port Arthur massacre has nothing to do with it. People are killing other people with knives, such as the massacre in China, & the terrorist attack in London, no guns were used in these killings. But we NEED to be able to use a gun for our defence, do you really want to have to get into a knife fight or defend yourself with just your fists against a bigger person? This is not sensible or practicle.

Barcaldine police chief Timothy Misson faces firearms charges after losing weapons licence

How many more police are breaking the law? These are the people who are the real threat. All these gun control measures aimed at law abiding licenced gun owners & yet we have criminals within our police service! I think the government should clean up its own back yard before blaming law abiding licenced gun owning citizens!
What do you want to bet that some of this police officer's guns came from the firearms amnesty collection!

Remote Area nurse Safety. Australia.

These nurses work alone, and as we all know it is illegal in Australia to carry anything for self defence. Gayle Woodford was raped and murdered whilst at work. We need new laws that will give people like Gayle and other citizens a better chance of survival when crime is on the increase in Australia. Allowing two nurses to work together is a start, but it is not enough. We need legislation allowing law abiding Australian citizens to carry guns for self defence and if necessary for the defence of others, such as family members. In cases where people do not wish to carry a gun, then tasers and capsicum sprays should be a legal option.

Illegal Use Of Firearms. Law abiding licensed gun owners NOT TO BLAME!!!

MACHINE guns that can fire 1000 rounds a minute with pinpoint accuracy have infiltrated Victoria with the help of the owner of US weapons company, a court has heard.
Police say at least eight Thureon AR-15 assault rifles remain in the community after others were found in the hands of dangerous criminals involved in armed robberies and drug trafficking.
A former gun trader turned black-market importer has pleaded guilty before a Melbourne Magistrate to smuggling the guns into Australia.
Paul Munro, 63, has admitted to meeting the owner of Thureon Defense, Andy Huebschmann, who helped him conceal and export the weapons from the US.
Victoria Police Detective Senior Constable Paul Jones said the machine guns first surfaced in Caroline Springs in April 2014.
Armed Crime Squad detectives seized another on Williamstown in February 2015, and a third in Rockbank in January last year.
“That firearm in its fully automatic state is capable of firing 1000 rounds per minute. It’s accurate to ranges in excess of 100 metres.
“The fact that the firearms ... have ended up in the hands of criminal elements linked with organised crime is a serious concern to the community,” Sen-Const. Jones said during an August 31 bail application for Munro.
The Melbourne Magistrates Court heard Munro met Huebschmann at the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show in early 2013, later arranging to buy six assault rifles.
In 2015 Munro bought six more, giving Huebschmann a container of car parts fitted with a concealed compartment to ship the weapons from Winsconsin to California, then on to Australia.
Sen-Const. Jones said the weapons imported in 2015 were made without any branding or other markings after Munro told Thureon Victorian criminals had been arrested with the guns.
The court heard Huebschmann fingered Munro to US authorities after admitting to the illegal export of the rifles in June last year.
Munro was arrested in possession of an assault rifle in Clifton Springs in August, after negotiating to sell five assault rifles and 10 handguns for $110,000 to an undercover officer.
“The accused has imported at least 12 Thureon assault rifles and other firearms. Police have only recovered four of the weapons, leaving at least 8 outstanding in the community,” Sen-Const. Jones said.
Victoria Police have confirmed to the Herald Sun the frightening weapons are still on the loose.
The court heard Munro, of Koraleigh, near the Victorian-NSW border, had a previous licence to sell guns, which was revoked in 2012.
He has seven convictions for breaching NSW gun laws, Sen-Const. Jones said.
Munro has pleaded guilty to several counts of importing illegal firearms and will face a plea hearing in the County Court on April 7.

PLEASE NOTE: The AR-15 is NOT a machine gun, it is a semi-automatic. This is just more anti gun bullshit!!!

Violence & Mayhem Australia Today. Random Thoughts.

Violence & Mayhem Australia Today. Random Thoughts.

Why are we seeing so much mayhem in Australia, it seems that every day now there is another report of murder, stabbings, king hits, rape, home invasions & more. Obviously this is not right, not excusable, but can it be understood?
Let’s take a look at what our own government is doing. It has prioritised mining over farming; some farmers have given up fighting & have committed suicide. Protesting has been banned, made illegal so if the people try to back the farmers & “Lock the Gate”, they can now be arrested & charged. The police are now a law unto themselves, & unless someone records their crimes on video, then they get away with it. The people did not vote for mining to be prioritised over farming, why would they? They did not vote to have protests banned, made illegal, why would we? There was no referendum, no one was asked, does this sound like democracy or dictatorship?
I am not saying that all this mayhem & violence is happening because we have a corrupt government who is in itself committing crimes, & that the people who have a tendency toward violence & crime see this as a green flag to do what ever they want, but it is something to think about.
Why are Australian citizens allowing this government to “rule” us in this way? Why are they allowing the degradation of our environment & the loss of many of our rights? Our own constitution is being ignored by this government, a government by the way that is in fact a registered company in the USA! We have two main political parties, neither are better than the other, so when it comes to voting, we are stuck between a rock & a hard place. This year, 2016 the people showed their displeasure by voting independent, & what happened? The Liberal party got in yet again!!!
So, voting for your/our preference does not work, it changes nothing. The same corrupt government is still in power & the Australian people are doing NOTHING about this. Why? In other countries the people simply do not allow this corruption to continue, they rally their numbers & sack the government. We NEED change, we need to sack this government & the whole corrupt system & put something in place that allows the people to have a voice, to have a choice. What is it going to take to make the Australian people say “NO MORE, ENOUGH”?
There are crook police officers committing crimes & there are good police officers that are not prepared to blow the whistle on these bad cops, why? Because if a good cop blows the whistle on a bad cop, he loses his job. He will not be sacked, but he/she will be shunned by all other police officers Australia wide. He/she will be forced to quit the police service. This needs to change, but how do we change this? I do not have an answer for this, but this is the big problem with the whole government system. People are for ever saying “Don’t allow this” “Do your own thing”, but it is not that easy. We are a minority who care, but a minority has no power. We have to pay the ever increasing local council rates/taxes despite the fact that many of us receive no or few services for those rates, because if we refuse to pay, the council will actually evict us from our own homes & sell our property.
I realise that services & road maintenance have to be funded, but should there not be some check & balance? If a retired couple can not afford to pay the rates on their own home, why should they be forced to sell the home that they worked so hard for? After all the years of working & scrimping & saving they are now forced to live in a city or town & pay rent? Does this make any sense?
So we ask ourselves why is there so much crime, so much violence. Why is there so much sadness & depression? I think our society is starting to break down. We are losing human rights every day. New police powers take away citizens rights. They may have been introduced in order to maintain order, but in fact there is no check & balance here, the innocent are affected as well as the criminal element. Did banning certain firearms stop crime or even reduce crime? NO! Yet again the law abiding citizen pays the price. Who has these banned firearms now? The criminals have these firearms because they did not hand them in, they are NOT licensed, they are NOT listed in the gun registry!

So where are we heading? Less farms, less farmers, less food, less rights. Slowly but surely we are being herded into a position where eventually we will not be able to resist even if the majority of Australians grew a spine & decided to do something! Some people say “well if you are not happy with the way things are, why don’t you move somewhere else?” My answer to that is, that there is no better place to move to, no place that has the potential that Australia has for being a great place to live in. We have the room, we have the space. We have less people than anywhere else in the world given the size of Australia, but we need to regain our rights, our freedoms. Yes there must be law & order, but it must be tempered with common sense & research. Knee jerk reactions by the government to certain incidents have to stop. We need to have some professionalism introduced into the making of legislation. We have The Greens who appear to be promoting drugs & at the same time recommending that law abiding Australian citizens should be disarmed! How crazy is that?! Do they think that much of the crime is not linked to drugs & illegal gun use? Right now ignorant people are making these decisions for us, & it is not sensible, it is not right or fair & above all it is bloody stupid!

Guns or No Guns, It's Your Choice.

Even so, self-defence is not accepted by the Firearms Registry as a genuine reason for owning a gun. If you do have a gun in your home you are legally bound to keep it locked in a gun safe!!! And if you do use it to protect your life & that of your family, then you must be ready to face the consequences. The police advise that in a home invasion that you leave by the nearest exit!!!

The 10 Aussie suburbs plagued by gun crime

“There has been an increase in the theft of firearms from registered owners from rural properties, particularly in the Riverina, as remote or ‘vacant’ hobby farms provide thieves with ample time to search and locate firearms,” said NSW firearms squad detective superintendent Mick Plotecki.
The above sounds like total bullshit to me. By law all registered guns are supposed to be locked in a gun safe. IF these guns are not being kept in a gun safe, then what are the police doing about it? Registered gun owners receive regular firearms security checks to make sure that they have & use a gun safe. Whilst it is not practicle to keep a gun locked away whilst the owner is present in case the gun is needed urgently, guns should not be left laying about if the owner is absent from the property.
But instead of blaming the gun owners, why are the police not cracking down on these gangs & thieves?
