Australian Preppers Forum.

Australia is unique, not quite like any other country. American forums can be okay, but their situation in regards to many things simply do not apply to Australia. If you live in Australia, here is a chance to learn & to share your knowledge. I have not been on this forum for very long, but so far is seems friendly. I am not a manager or moderator on this forum so my hands are tied to just participating & making suggestions, but this forum does need some new blood & more participation. Please check this forum out when you get time.
Thank you.

Gun Control & Anti-Self Defence Laws in Australia. Why?

Gun Control & Anti-Self Defence Laws in Australia. Why?

I have a lot of things going through my mind right now, so please excuse me if this post seems a little staggered.
First of all I think we need to establish the fact that the Government does not give a damn about the welfare & safety of its citizens. This is important, because the safety of its citizens is the reason given for the government’s gun control measures & its self defence legislation.

Fact: In Australia women are being attacked, assaulted or killed every 2 minutes.
Fact: The Australian government has cut funding to women’s help centers & some of these centers have had to close completely.
Fact: It is illegal in Australia to purchase, carry or use ANYTHING for the sole purpose of self defence or the defence of one’s family. No guns, no pepper sprays, no tasers, no attacker marker paint sprays.
Fact: If you do defend yourself or your family you could be charged with an offence. Recently a farmer defending his family in a home invasion where the predator was armed with a knife & a wooden baton, the farmer used an unloaded rifle to scare & disarm the attacker. The farmer was charged with firearms offences & both he & his wife had their gun licenses suspended & their guns confiscation.
Fact: Home invasions, assaults, attacks, rapes, murder & stabbings appear to be on the increase. Almost every day now there are reports of one or the other.
Fact: If at least some of these people who were attacked had been carrying some form of device that enabled them to defend themselves, then they would have survived & the attacker/s would have been stopped & possibly arrested.
Fact: On more than one occasion in Terrorist attacks in Australia the police were ordered not to kill or arrest the Terrorist when they were able to do so. This allowed the Terrorist to proceed & ended in the death of innocent citizens.
Fact: There was NO coronal enquiry into the Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania which was used by the government to order a confiscation of certain commonly used guns from law abiding citizens. There is no proof  that Martin Bryant was in fact the shooter. There is no proof that if Bryant was the shooter that he acted alone. There is no proof that the government did not orchestrate this massacre just so they could implement the confiscation of law abiding licensed citizen’s guns. There IS proof that the alleged rifle used in these shootings was in fact in police hands before the shootings. This rifle had previously been handed in to the police. So if Bryant was the shooter, who gave him this rifle?

So let’s look at this objectively & sensibly so we can better try & understand what is going on here. What is likely to happen if citizens were allowed to carry & use certain items for defence? Well firstly there would be less innocent people getting robbed, assaulted, raped & murdered. On the other hand we could expect there to be some innocent people injured or even possibly killed due to some nervous people “jumping the gun”, defending themselves when in fact the would be attacker was in fact an innocent person. I think personally that this would still involve less deaths than if we were not allowed to defend ourselves, AND people would NEED to gain a better understanding of the new laws involving self defence. People would need to approach other people with caution & understand the possible danger. IF a person were to “jump the gun” on an innocent person, then it is perfectly reasonable for that person to have their rights to carrying such a protective device revoked.
I think it very reasonable to expect that the cases of home invasions would decrease considerably. Right now criminals know that the majority of Australian homes are in fact defenseless. We are not allowed legally to use guns, pepper sprays, tasers, or anything else expressly for the purpose of defending our families or our homes. If we do decide to defend ourselves or our families then we are not allowed to use excessive force. How can anyone possibly be expected to judge what is excessive force?! Is the government saying that if you are threatened by an intruder with a knife, then you too must arm yourself with a knife & get into a knife fight?! If the intruder is unarmed but bigger & stronger than you are must you defend yourself with your bare hands?! Do you think this sounds reasonable?
I think the solution here lies in education & training. If we were allowed to carry guns on the streets or keep guns at home for defence, then there should be training & education involved in the process of evaluation for ownership & approval.
So, if the government’s purpose is not for the safety & the welfare of the common people, what is their reason/agenda? Could it be simply to gain votes from the anti-gun lobby? Could it be that they simply don’t know what to do to placate the anti-gun lobby & so do the only thing they THINK they can do? Or is there a more sinister reason for wanting to disarm the Australian populace? Then again why the hard stance on self defence? Why would they actually penalize innocent citizens for trying to defend themselves & their families?

Well I think we have thought this through objectively, have we founds any  answers to this problem? For me it comes down to my rights, my right to own anything & want to providing it does no harm to anyone else. My right to defend myself & my family in any reasonable situation, eg you do not shoot a trespasser just because they are on your property, but if you consider they are endangering your life or the lives of your family, then you should have the right to use any means available to you to keep yourself & your family safe from harm.
Firearms Security.
Obviously if you are going to keep a firearm available for defence in your home, then you cannot afford to keep it locked in a gun safe. But this does not mean that it cannot be secured. A trigger lock & even a tether should be acceptable. These precautions would allow one to use the gun for defence in a reasonable short time without allowing the gun to be used against the owner or even stolen. When you are not at home, then the gun should be secured in a gun safe.
Carrying.
If members of the public had been carrying side arms, openly or concealed, then there is a good chance that the Port Arthur shooter & the Terrorist Man Haron Monis would have been shot before they were able to kill anyone. The deaths at the cafĂ© were in fact the direct result of shots fired by the police, not Monis, & this only happened because the police sniper was told to stand down even though he had a clear killing shot of Monis!
Again, education & training are a priority when it comes to being approved for the carrying of a sidearm. I have not to date heard of any problems with open or concealed carry in America. So I don’t see why it would not work here.
Foolproof.
I don’t think any system can be made foolproof, there will always be idiots that will do the wrong thing, but there has to be a better system than what we have now. We simply cannot allow innocent citizens to be left defenseless because we fear there will be accidents or idiots doing the wrong thing. People are dying out there because they are legally unable to defend themselves, & this is NOT good enough!

Australian National Security. Terrorism.

I did a quick search on the net this morning to see if there were any disaster preparedness surveys or government advice sheets. I found nothing to date. I find this quite amazing. In & post WW2 there was advice on needed supplies, how to preserve foods, how to save money when purchasing food, growing your own food etc etc. The world has changed. My advice, Be Prepared!

Worldwide cyber attack 2017

A fast-moving and devastating wave of cyber attacks is sweeping the globe, reportedly exploiting a flaw exposed in documents leaked from the US National Security Agency.

Malcolm Turnbull says Australians should be 'very alert' after IS call for lone wolf attacks.

An Islamic State propaganda magazine has called for 'lone wolf' attacks at locations in Sydney and Melbourne.
Should this be taken seriously? Or is it just another ploy by the government to legislate more restrictions on Australian citizens in the name of terrorism? Since when have the government been seriously concerned with public safety?

Thoughts For The Week. Australia. Owen Guns Bulletin September 2016 Edition 123

Thoughts For The Week
The worlds media have downplayed the emerging militaristic friction in our Asia Pacific area for the last ten years, now China is building military bases in the Spratley Islands and North Korea is exploding 10 kiloton nukes delivered by ballistic missiles fired from submarines. At first you might think Defence is not relevant to Australia’s firearm owners, but please put up with my background information before we get to the punch.

Expanding Buffer Zones.
We should do some Heavy Thinking.
Why does, China want military bases in the Spratley Islands, and why does North Korea want nuclear missiles with a range of 2000 miles? The answer is an old strategy, that it is far better to have to fight a war in someone else’s country rather than your own. As the Roman Empire created buffer states to keep out the barbarians, so too do the Chinese. They give nuclear technology and a vast amount of military equipment to Pakistan, so it can hold back India, they keep Tibet enslaved and supply vast amounts of military hardware to North Korea, so it can face off to Japan and Taiwan and as they see it the main bogy man the USA. We cannot be amazed that North Korea and Vietnam also want to keep any threat away from their own countries so also have to engage in a military game of chess as to who dominates the chess board. That chessboard is of course the Pacific Ocean, this should concern all Australians who think.
Don’t let the people know? We don’t want to Arouse them.
I should not have to spell it out, we all should know this but due to the dumbing down, news service that spend hours on man bites dog stories, or save the rare toad, we are told we are more concerned about how many medals were won at the Olympics. Really, that is not the truth as we are all concerned about the safety of our homes and families.

We were very lucky last time, Japan made a big mistake and attacked the USA. If they had just moved down on Australia. the USA would not have cared.
APPEASERS.
It is due to our spineless leaders, who are from the same mould as the pre World War Two Appeasers like the Prime Ministers Ramsay Macdonald, Stanley Baldwin and Neville Chamberlain, and French foreign Minister Pierre Laval, who all sought to avoid war by feeding smaller countries to Japan, Germany and Italy, to sate the savage beasts. They downplay the internal threat from Islam that demands world domination and they downplay the threats from our northern military dictatorships that also want to dominate our region.

Our fearless leaders, feather their own nests with huge salaries and pension payouts, they take bribes and donations from foreign owned banks and big business yet put themselves about to the populace as clean as driven snow.
Treason.
Last month, the ABC reported businesses with Chinese connections gave Australia’s major parties more than $5.5 million between 2013 and 2015, making them the largest source of foreign-linked donations. The donations were troubling enough for the head of Australia’s spy agency to personally brief leaders of Australia’s major political parties last year about the national security risks. According to the ABC, the security warning from the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) director-general Duncan Lewis included naming donors his agency thought were acting on behalf of the Chinese government.
Much of Australia’s $32.4 billion (2016–2017) defence budget is siphoned off into private overseas accounts leaving a vast continent and our people defenceless and our tiny defence force not ‘cannon fodder’ but like a bite sized, suicide squad. Our 94 Combat aircraft, 59 Abrams tanks, 47 commissioned war ships, with a total staff of 57,982 are struggling to deploy 2,241 soldiers in the field.

Just a quick half and hour of research on Google gives us a scary future. Due to America’s debt and economic decline their population demands that they can no longer play the worlds policeman and are insisting that their buffer countries pay for their own defence. Countries like Japan responding to their local threats and are now rearming, but even without an offensive force, Japan’s military dwarfs ours.

Who do we trust?
None of the above, like Britain in World War Two, the USA more than likely would have other huge problems, when the sand is thrown into the air, the rubber hits the road, the anchor is thrown overboard and our nation is set adrift in a very troubled foaming sea of despair. The USA jumped into the middle east and impressed its competitors with its dismal abilities.

We in Australia are left defenceless by our governments disinterest and inaction we do not even have the manufacturing base, as we had in World War Two that can quickly improve our situation, in fact our governments bribed romance with free trade continues to destroy Australian manufacturing abilities. Ultimately, without the ability to mount our own defence no one is going to help us, besides the fact that we are not worth helping, Singapore and New Zealand will have enough troubles of their own.
We have been Subverted and Betrayed.
Australians have been made house guests of the Sorcerers Apprentice, who has let loose what cannot be controlled, what was not quite so bad yesterday will be much worse today and a nightmare tomorrow. In Australia we have been magically changed from people who used to work, produce and build, into surrogate, subservient, consumers, the lowest human form. We are televised, and advertised out of our senses. We exist in images, not realities. We are given an image of what we are supposed to want and what we are supposed to be, and most people follow it. Hardly anyone notices that the producers have gone, that the factories have closed, the farms turned into National Parks that quality in food, materials or life itself have disappeared.
Even money has changed into an image, the magic card, but what it buys for people is debt enslavement and shoddy goods. The ‘Good Life’ is now a political swindle and should be given a bouquet of flour, but in reality it should be a wreath, but even then it be hard to find one not made out of plastic flowers. We have created a society whose representative figures are politicians who are sold with the soap and cornflakes, they are wooed by plastic Barbie and Ken interviewers who would not know if their backsides were melting. Our young are wooed by singers with no voices, whose only qualifications are a lot of hair, sweat and cheap imported electronic equipment. These are the leaders who have betrayed our nation.
Firearm Owners Our Only Hope.
Where is our hope for the future? Only with the 2,000,000 licensed shooters, or the 2 000,000 or so voters at the last election, who for the first time chose the un advertised, the independent, or small party senators, our nations future has been on a slide into the abyss, now it has a small window, a small chance to survive.

The Point.
I cannot tell you, that the two million licensed shooters with their five million licenced firearms are our nations best asset to deter invasion, nukes versus .22 Lr are not going to win us any battles, but think about this, if our chicken livered politicians surrendered, and flew out to their condo in Florida, the enemy has still to disarm us, before they kill us all. When anyone gets shot with a .22 the only place they want to go to ‘fast’, is hospital. Disarming two million shooters and their friends under those circumstances would be a lot more difficult than John Howards Un Informed buy back, and as John found out totally un successful. They could suffer a million casualties, if Australians chose to fight, rather than join the gas chamber queue.  Yes, we desperately need the tools to manufacture a defence industry. If we had a responsible government it should be doing everything to encourage shooting, hunting, expanding knowledge of ballistic, encouraging industry, rifle and pistol ranges. Instead, we are confronted with suppression, is it any wonder that we suspect their motives and do all we can to replace them. Ron Owen.

Police Disclosure. More On The Lindt Cafe Shooting.

This sounds to me like this shooting was all cut & dried before it even started. The question is, who orchestrated this shooting? Was this another attempt to cause havoc so that further gun control measures could be taken against law abiding gun owner citizens?!

Why Firearms Restrictions?

http://www.gunlistings.org/

Why Firearms Restrictions?
·      Terrorism
·      Crime
·      Suicides
Do restrictions on law abiding licensed firearms owners do anything to stop the above problems/threats? Answer: No
Why No? Because law abiding citizens are not criminals or terrorists & if they want to commit suicide they have other gentler means of killing themselves without blowing their brains out.
How do restrictions to muzzle-loading long arms & pistols effect the above? They don’t is the easy answer. No criminal will choose a muzzle-loading firearm over a modern breach loading firearm to use in committing a crime.
Why are restrictions placed on muzzle-loading firearms by the Australian government if by doing so it has no effects on crime, terrorism or suicide? Good question, & if we could actually ask the government this question & get an answer, it would be very interesting to hear but probably complete & utter bullshit.
Firearms restrictions are based on the premise that they keep the public safe, but to date that has never been proven to be the case, in fact, there is some question as to whether being able to carry a side arm in public may not actually be a deterrent to crime & terrorism.
Let us take a look at the rules in NSW concerning muzzle-loading firearms:
·      Antique muzzle-loading guns do not require a permit to purchase, registration, or a firearms licence. But you are not legally allowed to fire an antique gun.
·      Replica muzzle-loading guns are exactly the same as antique muzzle-loading guns, exactly the same in all respects. The loading procedure, the firing procedure, & the ignition method. All are the same. Replica muzzle-loaders are just that, they are replicated copies of originals. Not breach loaders, not smokeless gunpowder, not fast loading, not high powered. But still they require registration, permit to purchase, & a firearms licence. In the case of a flintlock, matchlock, tinderlock or wheel lock pistol, they require a Pistol Licence, & to get a pistol licence you have to join a pistol club, & to maintain membership you have to attend regular meetings, & the membership is expensive. On top of this you are not allowed to use this muzzle-loading pistol anywhere except on an approved firing range.
Anyone wanting to make a crude muzzle-loading gun can do so in about 30 minutes using a piece of gas pipe. It would be illegal to do so, but it could easily be done. Yet the above restrictions on these primitive guns are supposed to be keeping the public safe from harm. If it were not so serious, if it did not seriously affect people’s rights to recreation through Living History & Historical Re-enacting, it would be laughable. The legislators who pen these laws may well be looked on as a joke, but the restrictions they place on law abiding citizens is no joke.
I respect other people’s points of view, I understand why some people are frightened by guns. I understand & respect their wish not to own or use a gun, even in the defence of their loved ones & themselves. But I simply can not understand why they are unable to look at the situation & understand that law abiding citizens are not the enemy, we are not a part of the problem, and we are not criminals. Treating us as such is unforgivable & an offence against human rights.
Disagreeing with someone is a human right, but spreading misinformation & lies is something else. The Greens, the government & other anti-gun lobby groups are guilty of spreading misinformation, lies & fear mongering in order to achieve further restrictions on firearms & ammunition just to satisfy their own need to control people, to gain some sort of power. It makes them feel good. What then does this say for these sorts of people?

We, the law abiding gun owner are not totally blameless in the restrictions that we suffer. Self-serving organisations such as the S.S.A.A. (Sporting Shooters Association Of Australia) could be doing a lot more for Australian gun owners, but instead it seems to me that they are more interested in not rocking the boat & at the same time lining their own pockets. Individuals are divided, muzzle-loading shooters have always readily backed modern gun shooters, but modern firearms owners are often guilty of hanging us black powder enthusiasts out to dry! I don’t see that anyone is dividing us, we seem to have divided ourselves. When we finally have so many restrictions & possibly even confiscations, then we will have no one to blame but ourselves.
