Thoughts For The Week By Ron Owen. The Russian War.

 Thoughts For the Week.

What you do in your lifetime will echo down through eternity”,
Marcus Aurelius.
As I have had two Cataract operations in the last two weeks, I have been doing much less reading, yet looking at the world though a much clearer vision. Unfortunately, we in Gympie have had a disaster a huge flood, not quite on the scale of Noah, but impressive. A disaster but not anywhere near the scale of the Putin made disaster in poor Ukraine.
Sadly, again I feel like Cassandra cursed to utter prophecies, but condemned never to be believed.
Nature and the Politics of War abhor a vacuum and like running water go quickly to fill the void.
As western civilisation cracks, festers and eats its own young, the tyrant barbarians will gobble up the assets to fill their insatiable greed. The New World Order that George Soros and his bought and paid for “Get Up’ has Arisen, as it is where “Get UP” gets its name from, the first words of the left wing anthem “Internationale”. In some translations the word “Get Up” is used instead of Arise.
“Arise, wretched of the earth
Arise, convicts of hunger,”
They chant these lines forgetting completely what Russian tyrants did to Ukraine in 1932-33. “The ‘Holodomor’ where the Russia/Communist conquerors purposely starved to death 3.5 million Ukrainians by stealing their crops, exporting them for sale while they starved the Ukraine into submission.

Stalin actively made things worse. He exported almost two million tons of food out of the Ukraine, pulling away the little food the people had to survive. Then he barred the people there from moving to any other part of the country. They had no food; they had no way to escape,  nothing to do but wait and die. Life, during the “Holodomor”, was so harsh that 2,500 people were arrested and convicted for eating their neighbors’ flesh.

Its little wonder that the Ukraine wants its independence. At the time 16 nations called it Genocide, but like today, “Appeasement” was the words of the west and the world did nothing.
Mr. Zelensky the President of Ukraine.

Said in his dramatic speech at the Munich Security Conference last weekend, where he warned European allies about “appeasement” of Russia, have given Mr. Zelensky something that even his allies would not normally ascribe to him — Gravitas.
If you, dear European leaders, dear world leaders, free world leaders, if you don’t help us today, if you don’t help Ukraine strongly, then tomorrow, the war will knock on your door,”This is the sound of a new iron curtain, which has come down and is closing Russia off from the civilised world.” he said.
Those fair words apply to Australia and our Iron Curtain is China.
Sanctions have been used against Russia since 2014 after they invaded Ukraine territory in Crimea, Donbas (Donetsk and Luhansk)14,000 people have died since 2014. A Russian brigade shot down a Malaysian plane over Ukraine and killed 298 civilians, but sanctions have never deterred a thief, that wants to steal a country.

Ukraine even with its huge Army (in comparison to Australia) of 290,000 men & women is dwarfed by Russia that has 900,000 men and could easily send millions if Putin felt the need, has no chance of resisting a continued invasion by Russia. Sanctions will be like flea bites as with the aid of China and all of its satellite countries all commodities will be available to them and they print their own money.

On the 14 January, 1994 the USA-Russia-Ukraine Treaty was signed in Moscow by Presidents Clinton, Yeltsin and Kravchuk for Ukraine and on December 5, 1994, Ukraine acceded to the Non-Proliferation Treaty as a non-nuclear weapon state. On that same date, the US, Russia and United Kingdom provided security assurances to Ukraine, and the START I Treaty also entered into force. These Treaties were to guarantee that the signatories would defend Ukraine’s borders as Ukraine had inherited a large part of the Soviet Union’s nuclear arsenal there were far more nuclear warheads on the territory of Ukraine than in any country other than the United States or Russia. At this time there was 1900 strategic nuclear warheads in Ukraine, most of which were on SS-19 and SS-24 ICBMs targeted at the USA, and some 2500 tactical nuclear weapons. Ukraine allowed Russia to dismantle and return the nuclear warheads back to Russia. This massive disarmament was probably the largest in history and it took Ukraine from the third largest nuclear power in the world to be a peace loving powerless nation and all the nations that guaranteed it have betrayed Ukraine.

Tyrant Putin would never challenge Ukraine if he was threatened by a Ukrainian Government that had nuclear missiles and nothing else to lose.
Now Tyrant Putin warns other countries “that any attempt to interfere in Ukraine would “lead to consequences you have never seen in history”, and he threatened “consequences you have never faced in your history” for “anyone who tries to interfere with us”. Tyrant Putin reminded the world that Russia “remains one of the most powerful nuclear states” with “a certain advantage in several cutting edge weapons.”In effect, Mr. Putin’s speech, intended to justify the invasion, threatens nuclear war to anyone that would oppose him.
Tyrant Putin said, “there should be no doubt that any potential aggressor will face defeat and ominous consequences should it directly attack our country” and he considers that Ukraine is Russia. Putin is not a risk-taker he believes the West is “feeble” and not without reason, as he sees it the West is on its knees.

Finally, our leaders in Canberra have got their minds on some of the real picture, part of that being, if Putin can threaten the western world, not to interfere while it captures the largest European country, and get away with it. China’s Xi Jinping who is an equal tyrant for life with Putin can more easily carry out the same tactics and take Taiwan any time he feels he has and itch and wants to scratch it. Hopefully, it has finally dawned on Canberra’s bi party elite that
“There but by the grace of god go I”.
Ukraine today, Australia tomorrow.
Australia has a lot in common with Ukraine, so when you next hear, or read about Ukraine and Russia just exchange the words, Australia and China and think of the word “Appeasement”.
Just think of how little the flea bite of sanctions will effect tyrant Putin when he gets all of these assets.
Ukraine is the largest country except if we count Russia by area in Europe and has a population of over 40 million (more than Poland).

Ukraine ranks:
1st in Europe in proven recoverable reserves of uranium ores;
2nd place in Europe and 10th place in the world in terms of titanium ore reserves;
2nd place in the world in terms of explored reserves of manganese ores (2.3 billion tons, or 12% of the world’s reserves);
2nd largest iron ore reserves in the world (30 billion tons);
2nd place in Europe in terms of mercury ore reserves;
3rd place in Europe (13th place in the world) in shale gas reserves (22 trillion cubic meters)
4th in the world by the total value of natural resources;
7th place in the world in coal reserves (33.9 billion tons)

Ukraine is an important agricultural country:

1st in Europe in terms of arable land area;
3rd place in the world by the area of black soil (25% of world’s volume);
1st place in the world in exports of sunflower and sunflower oil;
2nd place in the world in barley production and 4th place in barley exports;
3rd largest producer and 4th largest exporter of corn in the world;
4th largest producer of potatoes in the world;
5th largest rye producer in the world;
5th place in the world in bee production (75,000 tons);
8th place in the world in wheat exports;
9th place in the world in the production of chicken eggs;
16th place in the world in cheese exports.
Ukraine can meet the food needs of 600 million people.

Ukraine is an important industrialised country:

1st in Europe in ammonia production;
Europe’s 2nd’s and the world’s 4th largest natural gas pipeline system;
3rd largest in Europe and 8th largest in the world in terms of installed capacity of nuclear power plants;
3rd place in Europe and 11th in the world in terms of rail network length (21,700 km);
3rd place in the world (after the U.S. and France) in production of locators and locating equipment;
3rd largest iron exporter in the world
4th largest exporter of turbines for nuclear power plants in the world;
4th world’s largest manufacturer of rocket launchers;
4th place in the world in clay exports
4th place in the world in titanium exports
8th place in the world in exports of ores and concentrates;
9th place in the world in exports of defence industry products;
10th largest steel producer in the world (32.4 million tons).
Putin the tyrant thief gets all of this for nothing, (except for the lives of his men) plus 40 million slaves. Ukrainian farmers will be replaced by Russian farmers, all key jobs will be taken by Russians, maybe a million or two will be relocated to the Gulag slave camps in Siberia, maybe a million will slip away to be refugees as Poland will be a sympathetic border. Again, Russia could reduce the population by imposing “Holodomor” again.
The scenario is much worse if we exchange the words China and Australia from Russia and Ukraine. Australia has even more resources than Ukraine and just over half the population to defend it with. We have a greedy neighbour that does not care about western sanctions.
Australians would be even less use to China and the Chinese government would replace all the workers with Chinese people. Australians, who could not work would not be fed. As we have no sympathetic borders we would have nowhere to run.

We have observed that when faced with nuclear options none of our allies would come to our aid, our only options would be to either die fighting, or die of starvation.
Ukraine’s Parliament declared a state of military emergency, and the government announced it would give arms to anyone with combat experience who was ready to defend the country and urged people to donate blood for wounded veterans.

President Zelensky, said “The future of our Ukrainian people depends on every citizen,”
This is the truth, Russia with all its cruise missiles and air superiority still needs men with rifles on the ground to take and hold that ground. Putin can put 200,000 troops into Ukraine but if President Zelensky has only 100,000. Regular soldier and 2,000.000 civilians with rifles. Russia loses and Ukraine wins the day.

If that happened then putrid Putin would have to put in 4 million of his regular troops in to control them, he does not have that many, so he would have to introduce mass conscription to send them to an un popular war. Its then game over for him. All it needs is those armed civilians, yes they will sustain casualties at a greater rate then the better equipped regulars, but as has been shown in Afghanistan and many other countries, world powers Russia and the USA have never won a war against armed and well led civilians.

For example.
PeFedir Serdiuk, 26, who runs a first-aid training business, said, “People are staying here to risk their lives because this country is more than just territory, this has united people,” he maintained, adding that as tensions escalated, “people were buying ammunition rather than plane tickets.”

“What’s happening now is similar to what happened in 1939,”the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany. Nobody believed Germany would invade a European country. And no one believed Putin, the new Hitler of our time, would invade a peaceful nation. The first civilians have already been killed, and there will be more suffering. We have been alerting our Western partners that you have to be tough with Russia — don’t do appeasement with them. It is an invitation for more violence.” said Ms. Kaleniuk

Knocked out Russian APC seems to by used for lunch time rations.

The Ukrainian soldier on a tiny island in the Black Sea didn’t hold back when threatened with bombing by a Russian warship as Moscow continued its assault on Ukrainian territory according an audio exchange, as the Russians approached Snake Island, also known as Zmiinyi Island, the Russian officer says: “This is a military warship. This is a Russian military warship. I suggest you lay down your weapons and surrender to avoid bloodshed and needless casualties. Otherwise, you will be bombed.”
A Ukrainian soldier responds: “Russian warship, go f*** yourself.”

Those were the final known words heard from the island.
The fate  of the 13 Ukrainian defenders after Russian bombardment is still un certain.
Vitali Klitschko, the Mayor of Kyiv, a former heavyweight champion in boxing, said in an interview with Good Morning Britain on Thursday that “Mr. Putin of Russia had “lost reality” and that he was prepared to take up arms to defend against the Russia’s invasion.
I don’t have another choice — I have to do that,” he said.

When it is Australia’s turn who amongst us will remember the traitors that disarmed us in 1996 and 2003. Who will remember their semi auto rifle that they, innocent of any wrong doing had to hand over to the tin pot tyrants, would they want them tried for treason?
These same anti gunners (financed by Communist backed China & George Soros) Gun Control Australia and John Howard destroyed Australia’s small arms strategic reserves of 100,000 L1A1 rifles, (melted them down into railway iron) as well as your pride and joy.
Australia, has to change its policies and encourage armed Militia, as it did with the 1903 Defence Act, (which was only taken out in 1997) offering lower cost ammunition to rifle clubs, prizes and making range and its equipment available to the citizens who ultimately have the responsibility to defend their families, their communities and our country. We should never ever think that a 100,000 (or at best 20,000) regulars are going to defend a continent. We should never ever think that another nation would risk a nuclear war to send their regular troops to defend Australia against China. We are it.

Every Man Should Have A Rifle
So I sit and write and ponder, while the house is deaf and dumb,
Seeing visions over yonder of the war I know must come.
In the corner – not a vision – but a sign for coming days
Stand a box of ammunition and a rifle in green baize.
And in this, the living present, let the word go through the land,
Every tradesman, clerk and peasant should have these two things at hand.

No – no ranting song is needed, and no meeting, flag or fuss –
In the future, still unheeded, shall the spirit come to us!
Without feathers, drum or riot on the day that is to be,
We shall march down, very quiet, to our stations by the sea.
While the bitter parties stifle every voice that warns of war,
Every man should own a rifle and have cartridges in store!
Henry Lawson.

Let us all hope, my above warnings are wrong.
There is no Spring without Winter, without Mistakes there is no Learning. There is no Life without Death, without Doubts there is no Faith. There is no Peace without War, without Fear there is no Courage. For without Mistakes, Doubts and Fears there are no pathways to Wisdom.
