ASIO & the Federal Government knew about the shooter’s ties to a Sydney-based Islamic State terrorism cell, yet they allowed them to obtain firearms licenses, firearms & membership to a gun club. WHY?

Many ordinary law abiding citizens have had their firearms license applications refused, so why were these two men given gun licenses?

This was either total incompetence or it was corruption, so legislating stricter gun laws will not stop this from happening again in the future. Punishing law abiding licensed gun owners with further restrictive firearms legislation WILL NOT stop firearms crime.

Criminals DO NOT register their guns, they DO NOT obey gun laws, they DO NOT use antiquated muzzle loading flintlocks, wheellock or matchlock guns, rifles or pistols, so why are these pistols restricted? Why are muzzle loading long arms classed the same as modern breech loading firearms? Why are toy water pellet guns classed as firearms?

Is this ignorance on the part of the government, or is it government bloody mindedness & measures of control?
