Slinging Practice

Advantages of a Flintlock Muzzle-loader for long term wilderness living/survival.

Advantages of a Flintlock Muzzle-loader.
1)   Ammo is less expensive than a modern equivalent caliber firearm.
2)  The smoothbore is very versatile, being able to digest round ball, bird shot, & buckshot, or any combination of two of these (can also use minies).
3)  The fusil is lighter to carry than a modern equivalent sized gun.
4)  You can vary the load if needs be.
5)  The smoothbore will digest other projectiles besides lead.
6)  Lead can be retrieved from downed game & remoulded with a simple mould & lead ladle. This means that you can carry less lead, & more of the lighter gunpowder.
7)  You can make your own gunpowder.
8)  You can use the lock to make fire without the need for gunpowder.
9)  You can use gunpowder for gunpowder tinder fire lighting if needs be.
10)        IF the lock should malfunction (these are very robust & it is not likely) you can easily repair it if you are carrying a few spare springs & a few simple tools.
11) If you do not have any spare parts & the lock malfunctions, you can easily convert it to a tinderlock or matchlock & continue using it.
12)        You do not need a reloader, brass shells, caps, or primers. The latter have been known to break down in damp conditions or if they are stored for too long.
13)         Wadding for ball or shot is available from natural plant materials or homemade leather or rawhide.
14)       Less chance of being affected by future ammunition control legislation.
15)        Gunpowder is easily obtainable providing you have a muzzle-loader registered in your name regardless of caliber (NSW)
16)        A .32 caliber flintlock rifle is more powerful than a .22 rimfire, less expensive to feed, more accurate over a greater distance, able to take small & medium sized game, & other than not being able to use shot (unless it is smoothbore), it has all the attributes of the other flintlocks.
17)        Damage from a .62 caliber-.75 caliber pistol or long arm is in the extreme. Wounded prey is unlikely to escape.
18)         By using buck & ball you are unlikely to miss your target. This load is capable of taking out more than one target.
19)        There is less kick-back to a muzzle-loading gun.
20)       Antique Flintlock muzzle-loading guns do not require a license, registration, or a permit to purchase in NSW Australia.

About the loss of our Rights & our Freedoms.

Queensland Police Minister just returned from the COAG meeting where representing the QPS, and not the 800,000 licensed shooter of Queensland he advocated for the classification of Lever Actions into Category D. The only way is to vote them out of office.
Does anyone ‘Not’ know of someone who has been abused by our nations Police forces?
I know good people who have been convicted for not locking their back door. I know good people who have been convicted for importing gunsmithing books on their credit card, from the internet and have been subjected to 7am search and seize of his registered firearms, Customs, Commonwealth Police and State Police and the media in attendance. They reported that the police found a set of Army Boots under the bed. Wow, he was a Lieutenant in the Army Reserve.
Now right from the start on this subject, I fully realise that what I am going to say does not apply to each and every policeman in the world, at all times and all places, but one has to wonder why they are still with them, when they know better than us, of the corruption of all principles that Police originally stood for.
When instead of Sir Robert Peel’s principle (formed Modern Police Force 1829)
PRINCIPLE 7 “Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.”

Currently, their policy is to charge and convict the victim. If you are robbed, it is much easier for the police to improve their statistics by charging the victim for not having his window closed, or not locking your motor car. How many of your friends have been harassed and fined for insufficient storage of firearms, or ammunition, even air rifle pellets? When before, the registration of firearms in 1997, there was no value for Criminals to steal them, they would steal the canned food out of your pantry and leave your 12 g shotgun. These days the Police only convict those who do not know that they have broken the law. That line could be called a generalisation, but when more than once the same police station is found with secreted deposits of handguns and drugs, for the sole purpose of setups. When you can be convicted of leaving your car window open, or your target barrel weight is now a silencer, a category R firearm and you have to face a jury trial, generalisations must be forgiven.

We have instances like the Lindt café siege in Sydney, where the police shot innocent hostages, and then use that tragedy to put further impositions on law abiding firearm owners. They have put 2 million licensed shooters on Crimtrac, so any corrupt policeman in the world can access our private details. They have been given the power over us to search and confiscate our property. Our police select their own police minister they direct the legislation that should be imposed for their own benefit, the doctrine of freedom called the separation of power has been disposed of.

We few who grew up in the 1940, by people who had fought for their communities believed that the only power that governments should have, was the power to protect the community from criminals, but during the 1990s our governments changed into a police state which makes all people, who are not police, criminal targets. Police written legislation manufactures so many laws which makes so many things to be a crime, that it becomes impossible for men and women to live without breaking the new laws. From the Police Minister to the lowly constable the attitude of police is that they are in control of an occupied country, under their rule. They write the legislation, the legislators who are supposed to represent us, are too sacred of the police to oppose them, so vote for them and never for us. The Police see themselves as the Warrior Elite, hunting down the medieval serfs or peasants. They make war on us, and we are oblivious to it. Gone is all sense of another Police principle.
PRINCIPLE 3 “Police must secure the willing cooperation of the public in voluntary observance of the law to be able to secure and maintain the respect of the public.”
Not long ago, in the history of mans path on earth, just a mere eight hundred years ago ordinary people were bought and sold, we were property of the warrior elite, the lords of the manor, all our rights were suppressed, but due to the common mans superior firepower with a longbow and the bravery and sacrifice of good people, rights were again finally acknowledged in documents like the Magna Carta, Declaration of Arbroath, the Statutes of Edward re acknowledged the old ‘common right’ (Justice) is to be done to all, as well poor as rich, without respect of persons; on the other, elections are to be free, and no man is by force, malice or menace, to disturb them.” With the invention of firearms the common people stood up for their rights and in 1688 the rights to own “arms suitable for their defence” was enacted for all time in the British Bill of Rights 1688/1689. Our forefathers and mothers fought hard for the right to vote for a representative system of government under the protection of the Crown. Within that system was two parliaments bound by the chains of Constitutional documents, all of which have been usurped by creeping dictatorial powers.
In the 1990s Mr Jeremy Lee (RIP) a personal friend of mine and a great friend to all those who love freedom wrote about the times
HOW DOES A POLICE STATE HAPPEN?
“If the idea of a Police State was announced in advance, it would never happen! The people would resist, find leaders, rise up and stop it. But, of course, the loss of personal freedom never happens in one moment of time, but gradually, inch by inch, never moving fast enough to cause too much opposition, taking a backward step now and then, in order to take two forward steps later.
How do we recognise it? And what do we do about it? There is a hundred and one symptoms, chiefly being absence of justice for the weak. When one person cannot find justice, all are endangered.
There are no road-sign saying BIG BROTHER HAS ARRIVED But you can hear his footsteps before you see him. Here are some of the vibes you will pick up:
When the person you elected can look you straight in the eye and tell you the opposite of what he promised when asking for your vote.
When he tells you your personal liberties must be sacrificed for the common good.
When your next door neighbour doesn’t want to get involved because he is scared of what happening to you may happen to him if he speaks out.
When the media has become a public prosecutor, in which it stereotypes, accuses and judges those it disagrees with in its articles and programmes.
When reporters will film for two hours to find one statement they can use to misrepresent what you really believe. When untrue headlines on page 1 can condemn you nation-wide, and a forced apology appear in the smallest print possible on page 148 three months later.
When your producer or business association has set up an expensive headquarters in the capital, awarded its staff large and permanent salaries, and stopped speaking for your interests.
When Trade Unions, Business Associations and Producer Organisations have made their peace with the government in office, and push the establishment-line.

When the perks, benefits and superannuation available for elected representatives is more generous than those of the average voter. When the most feared institution in the country is the Tax Department.
When all the taxes you pay ” direct, indirect and rates take more than 20 percent (in some countries it is now 50%) of the total income of the people. When statistics become more important than human beings. When GDP is more real to politicians and statisticians than human happiness.
When young people no longer believe their country offers them a secure, long-term future.
When young people get angry with their parents for pretending that it does. When the growing percentage of the population no longer care who wins elections, believing that the process is rigged, unrepresentative and undemocratic.
When one wage can no longer support a family and party politicians tell wage-earners they are now better off.
When crime, violence and vandalism are major signs of a hopeless and visionless environment laws are increasing.
When your home is no longer your castle; when private property is invaded; when entry without a warrant becomes a government provision.
When all forms of activity come under surveillance, regulation and inspection by government.
When debt is the major factor in every public and private enterprise, used as the excuse for more regulation, confiscation or fire-sale to foreign ownership.
When men and women will hurry by injustice on their way to a Sunday service and then bemoan the fact their faith is not taken seriously.
When the only political response to every problem is in legislation and regulation.
When politicians see their party, and orders from the Party Whip, as more important than their conscience or the electorate.
When a Minister will allow a great injustice to be perpetrated with the excuse that Cabinet solidarity prevents personal commitment.
When ordinary people, seeing the corruption around them, become corrupted themselves by their self-imposed silence and conformity.
Yes, the Police State begins to happen when people no longer care enough for freedom to speak out. As former US President Abraham Lincoln said: “Silence, when we should protest, makes cowards of us all.”
The great Russian, Solzhenitsyn, in his epic, The Gulag Archipelago, wrote of those who languished in slave labour camps: “.… at what exact point, then, should one resist the Communists? How we burned in the prison camps later thinking: What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive? Or, if during periods of mass arrests, people had not merely sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood that they had nothing to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes and hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand….. the organs (police) would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers … and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the accursed machine would have ground to a halt….”
There is no such thing as freedom for some and not others. As the famous American lawyer Clarence Darrow said in 1920: “You can only protect your liberties in this world by protecting the other man’s freedom. You can only be free if I am free.”
When the State claims it can raise your children, run your business, spend your money, make your decisions, run your life, and defend your family and property better than you can and makes it a crime for you to disagree —- BIG BROTHER HAS ARRIVED!!
It will call itself by sweet-sounding names; even “The Free Society.”
But your own personal freedom is the price you pay……..”
“And what is the state but a servant and a convenience for a large number of people, just like the electric light and the plumbing system? And wouldn’t it be preposterous to claim that men must exist for their plumbing, not the plumbing for the men.” Ayn Rand.
Maybe it is only me and a few of my friends that can see that without a drastic change our Western society is doomed. We continually find that in order for us to produce and work, we need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing. We always see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favours. We all know of men and women who get richer by graft and by pull rather than by work and trade. Our current legislation is not made to protect good people from bad, but to protect those set above us. Constantly, we see corruption being rewarded and honesty turned into a joke.
Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities and the smallest minority on earth is the individual.

The only proper, moral purpose of a government is to protect a persons rights, which means: to protect him, or ensure he, or she can protect themselves from physical violence. Government should protect his right to defend his own life, defend his or her liberty, to defend their right to own property and to the pursuit of their own happiness. Without the right to defend life and property, no other rights are possible.
Men and Women have to sustain their live by his own effort, the person who has no right to the product of his effort has no means to sustain their life. The people who produces while others dispose of their product, are slaves. Think about it. Think about government interference in your trade. This is happening every day.
Rights and Liberties are not the grants of Kings, or Parliaments, they are eternal human rights.
They stand on the principles that the meanest and lowest of the people are by the same un alterable un defeasible, as the laws of nature and we are entitled in the same way, as we have the right to breath air, the right to use sunlight to see, to have food to eat, and clothes to wear all the same rights as the Police Minister or the Prime Minister. These rights are inherent and essential for humans to live together, they have been agreed on as maxims and established as the Common law, even before any parliament existed in any country. All our fore fathers fought and paid for these liberties for ourselves today and for our children, they were paid for at a great expense as they gave their estates, their pleasures their blood and often their lives to win them for us.
What are you willing to do for the cause, will it be worse again in another twenty years, will the winter of our discontent continue to drive us down a frozen hole where we hoist the lid on the top of ourselves? Acknowledge that its happened and plan to do something about it. Use the internet, ask your friends to think about our lost freedoms, prepare them before all doors are closed to the freedom of speech.
